With over 35 years of experience in cardiovascular disease research and general internal medicine, Dr. David Faxon is a highly regarded physician within the cardiology field. Along with his research and his work as an attending physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Dr. Faxon has lectured at a number of universities throughout the country, including the University of Southern California, the University of Chicago, and his alma mater, the Boston University School of Medicine. Since 2006, Dr. Faxon has served as a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Medical School.

Aside from roles in hospitals and in academic settings, Dr. David Faxon has held a number of administrative responsibilities throughout his career. He was Chief, Division of Cardiology at USC Medical Center and the USC University Hospital; Chief, Section of Cardiology at the University of Chicago; and Director of Strategic Planning in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Department of Medicine. He currently serves as the Vice Chair of Medicine for Strategic Planning at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

As an author and contributor to over 350 scholarly publications and 4 books, Dr. David Faxon has focused on advancing the assessment and treatment of coronary heart disease. Among Dr. Faxon’s primary research interests are acute coronary syndromes, diabetes and coronary heart disease, as well as mechanisms and preventive and interventional devices to limit disease morbidity and morality.

As a physician, Dr. David Faxon is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in cardiovascular diseases as well as interventional cardiology. He has been listed among the top physicians in the United States in “The Best Doctors in America” since 1997 and has been recognized by Good Housekeeping Magazine, The Los Angeles Magazine, and The Chicago Magazine in their selections of best area doctors.
