Over the past five years, board-certified veterinary surgeon Dr. Steven Leshem has practiced with Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut in West Hartford. His treatments range from trauma surgery to complex neurosurgical procedures. Respected in his field, Dr. Steven Leshem has presented at Hartford County and Litchfield County Veterinary Associations on clinical applications of perioperative pain management in small animal surgery.
Steve Leshem, DVM, completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1996 and subsequently pursued a doctor of veterinary medicine at the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. While at Tufts, Steve Leshem served as class president and earned the Valerie M. Bates Humanitarian Award from the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association. Throughout much of the 1990s, he held a variety of veterinary technician positions at area clinics, such as MacDonald Veterinary Hospital. From 1998 to 2000, Steve Leshem, DVM, was active as chapter founder and president of Tufts' PAWS chapter. The group provides individuals with immunodeficiencies with ways of keeping their loved pets.
