Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. George Mathew has cared for patients for over 25 years. The recipient of a doctor of medicine from the University of Athens in Greece, Dr. Mathew moved to the United States to complete his clinical training and acquire a doctor of philosophy in immunology from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Houston. While performing his doctoral studies in molecular immunology, he researched and wrote on such subjects as the delta TCS1 determinant and immunologic strategies in ovarian carcinoma. Dr. George Mathew earned his PhD with the dissertation “Molecular analysis of the human gamma-chain T cell receptor genes.”
After acquiring this degree, Dr. Mathew accepted the offer of a clinical fellowship in medical oncology from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center at the University of Washington. He supplemented this position by filling in as a locum tenens physician at several rural facilities in Washington, such as Willapa Hospital and Othello Community Hospital. At the end of his fellowship, Dr. George Mathew entered medical oncology full time by joining the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Over the next several years, he accepted positions at medical facilities in Oregon, the Virgin Islands, and North and South Dakota. Since 2010, Dr. Mathew has treated patients at Pacific Primary Care in Sequim, Washington.
