Ralph Ferrara - Former SEC General Counsel, Current Proskauer Partner
A frequent contributor to law journals, securities litigator Ralph Ferrara has published articles on topics ranging from changes in U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations to the resurgence of insider trading claims at the state level. With a bibliography that begins in the 1970s, Ralph Ferrara published some of his first papers in law reviews, followed by several book chapters, transcribed lectures from legal conferences, and articles in specialized law journals. In recent years, his treatises have appeared in such periodicals as Bloomberg Law Reports, Westlaw Journal Delaware Corporate, Bloomberg BNA Securities Regulation & Law Report, and CCH’s Federal Securities Law Reporter, where he wrote 2013’s “Fine Wine Gets Better with Age,” a meditation on Brophy and Zapata. He also serves as the Chairman of the Securities Regulation Advisory Board of Wolters Kluwer Law & Business, publishers of CCH and Aspen-branded journals. A Practising Law Institute faculty member as well, Ralph Ferrara taught in the most recent Institute on Securities Regulation, a three-day live and webcasted continuing legal education seminar held in the fall of 2013.
Based in Washington, DC, Ralph Ferrara is a Partner in Proskauer’s Securities Litigation and White Collar Defense & Investigations Groups. Before Proskauer, he established an impressive record in securities law as Managing Partner and Vice Chairman of two top-tier law firms. He entered the private sector following a period with the SEC, during which time he served as General Counsel, Chief of Staff, and Special Counsel. The recipient of an LL.M. summa cum laude from The George Washington University Law School, Ralph Ferrara received his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
