Jackson Dempsey is a psychiatrist with nearly 30 years of experience in the field. He attended medical school at the University of New Mexico, graduating with honors. After completing a year-long internship at the school, he began a three-year residency at San Mateo County Mental Health Services in California. Jackson Dempsey currently serves as a private practitioner of psychiatry with practices in Medford and Grants Pass, Oregon.
Jackson Dempsey recently obtained his waiver for prescribing buprenorphine—more commonly known as Suboxone—to be used for the treatment of opioid dependence. In order to better service his clients, he works closely with a variety of substance abuse treatment programs, including Grants Pass, Oregon’s Adapt, a treatment program specializing in patients suffering from substance abuse and dependence. Dr. Dempsey believes that there is a national epidemic of opioid dependence and addiction, citing record numbers of overdose deaths from prescription opioids in recent years.
